My Year in Books + Top 24 Books of 2024.

Hello Loves 🌷📖📝🌻📖📝🌷 Hope you’re having a lovely New Year's Eve. 🌸 Last evening of the year and time to talk about My Year in Books and list my Top 24 reads of the year.  I’ve had a very good reading year.  I read 235 Books and a majority of them were good. There were some duds; but for the most part this was a very successful reading year.  I read loads of Indian Books. Read translations. Read books from all corners of the world.  Read some new to me authors and fell in love.  Tried new genres.  Read some delightful children’s books. Read so many beautiful picture books. Read a fair amount of nonfiction.  Bought a few books but was able to very successfully do a whole book buying ban from May to November.  Annotated some books.  Read physical books.  Read a ton on my iPad. Read very little on my Kindle (she’s getting old).  Found so much comfort and solace in my books.  I am so grateful for my books and for storie...

2023 Wrapped - My Year in Books & Life (Top 23 Books of 2023 ).

2023 is on her way out.  A whole year and honestly felt like it went by in like 20 minutes tops.  Where does time go?  Best to measure your year in little moments and joys and of course, if you are a bookworm- in books.  I read a lot this year.  A decent amount.  Less than last year, but who cares?  I read 207 books in total.  200 according to my Goodreads, which also tells me I read over some 50,00 words.  I read some amazing books. Some less than stellar and some that were downright disappointing.  But overall, my books kept me company, helped me escape real life and took me places and on adventures and made me think, laugh and sigh and cry and feel the entire range of human emotions.  My books are my friends and companions and joy.  And since it's the last evening of the year, it's time to list my TOP 23 Reads of 2023.  So here we go, in no particular order 23 Books I Loved Best in 2023:  1. The Covenant of W...

My Year in Books (+Life) & Top 22 Books of 2022.

For the last time in 2022... Hello Loves!  And just like that, 2022 is over.  This was a good year. Overall, for most part this has been a decent year for me.  I spent six months with my parents in Jalpaiguri, West Bengal.  And then after 20 months away from home, I came back home, to Mumbai. To my books and my flat and set about finding my way back to my old life,  Before we get to books, let's just talk life shall we?  2022 was different.  Better, so much better than 2021.  I lived in two places.  I spent time with my parents.  Came back home.  Mostly stayed home, I haven't quite shaken off my pandemic mindset, I am hoping to step out and do more in life.  I shopped for little and big things.  Still mostly bought from small businesses.  Got an iPad Mini. A new addition to my reading step-up. I do plan on doing more with it and not just using it to read.  I cooked so much. Like a lot.  Then in April,...

My Year in Books + Top 21 Reads of 2021.

Hello Loves!  Here we are on the very last day of 2021.  What a year it's been, huh? What a beastly little year! Good thing is I am happy to see it leave and I am happy to have survived it. Literally, I am grateful to be alive and grateful to have kicked Corona Kameeni to the curb. Uff! This year was zeher in parts and sukoon in bits.  Let's talk about something good:  aka my reading in 2021.  Reading my one solace in every situation and every year!  This year I read 200 books.  A neat little number no?! I got to 200 a few days ago..a little before Christmas and then just took time off from reading. I took a holiday from reading and just focussed on other things and spent time blogging and making a ton of lists and cooking and being.  200 is a good solid number and more than that I feel very at peace with everything I read this year.  So let's look at my annual  YEAR IN BOOKS  200 BOOKS.  I read a mix of ebooks and physic...

My Year in Books 2020 + My Top 20 Books of 2020.

Hello Loves!  Here we are at the very end of 2020 and I think most of us are happy to see the end of this year. It's  been one hell of a ride hasn't it? Yet, here we are.  We survived what this year threw at us. If a year ago someone told me that come March the whole world would be forced indoors and sanitisers would be our new best friend and I'd buy so many masks, I'd ask you what you had been smoking?!  Yet we were thrown a curve ball and we survived.  It sucked.  We complained.  Worried.  Cried.  Found comfort in food and books and sleep and TV shows.  MY YEAR IN BOOKS  When it came to books I had a mixed bag of a year.  I honestly thought I'd read so much more, since we were going to be home but the stress and anxiety about this pandemic made reading harder on some days and overall I think read quite less this year.  But honestly I am not going to be hard on myself for my not-so-stellar reading.   It was goo...

My Year in Books + Top 19 Books of 2019.

Hello!  Here we are on the last day of the year and it's time to list my favourite reads of the year.  This was a good year for reading.  Not consistently good but good.  There were some months when my reading life was on fire. And others where life took precedence and my reading slowed down.  But overall, 2019 was a good one.  I read 205 books.  A number I am most happy with.  I read a lot!   :)  I read physical books and a lottttttt of ebooks. I have a sneaky feeling that I read more ebooks than physical ones and that's new for me. With a 3 month long vacation, where I was away from my home and my personal library, my Kindle was a lifesaver. And ebooks being generally cheaper than their physical counterparts was kinder to my wallet too.  When it comes to book buying I feel like I was quite well behaved this year.  I bought books when I wanted to and bought books I wanted to read, but I don't ...

Hello 2018! Reading + Blogging Goals for 2018.

Hello 2018!  Be a year of kindness, love, gentleness and good sense and sanity.  I am so excited for this year.  I am coming into this year with so much optimism and good vibes and I hope this year is good for all of us.  Like every year I want to kickstart this New Year with some my my Goals and Resolutions.  If you know me at all you know I am a goal setter.  The start of the year is a happy time since I get to set-up my planners and think long and hard about my yearly goals.  So let's get started... 2018 READING RESOLUTIONS///  1. Read 100 books- My Good Reads Reading Challenge will be it's usual 100. It is the bare minimum number of books I want to read in 2018. If I read more then that's great. But if it's only 100 I am OK with that too.  2. Read more Classics- I make the same resolution every year and I do rather poorly on it. This year I hope to do better.  3. Re-Read more.  ...

2017 Favourites/// Top 17 Books of 2017 + My Year in Books!

Hello!  In a few hours 2017 will be gone.  A year which the world will remember as not so stellar.  For me personally, it was an OK year.  Not too bad...not too great.  A perfectly average year!  I am sorta glad to see it leave.  I cannot wait for 2018 and all that it bring with it.  But now let's stick to 2017 shall we? It was a year of reading, writing 25,000 words in one month, going back to Landour, watching over 100 films, cooking some amazing food, beautiful bags, lots of stationery and journaling and being content with my little life. :) READING HIGHLIGHTS!  1. I read over 200 books! 210 new books to be precise. To me this is a fantastic thing. I read over 170 books in 2016 and this year I wanted to do a little better. Even though my Good Reads Challenge was still 100 books, in my heart I wanted to double it; and I am so happy I was able to do just that.  2. I even re-read some old...
