Weekend Reads: Three Books I am Currently Reading.

 Hello Loves!! How is your long weekend going?  It's been very cold here and all I've been doing staying cozy under my quilts and reading and watching things and drinking tea.  This weekend my reading looks a little like this:  Rumi's Little Book of Life, Translated by Maryam Mafi and Azima Melita Kolin: I have been dipping into these beautiful poems every now and then and I don't need to tell you how mesmerizing Rumi's words can be!  I am taking my time with these and trying to absorb the meaning and feelings in these words.  Beautiful and perfect for reading before bedtime.   I am not a big poetry person but something about Rumi and his wisdom and joy and life lessons I tend to enjoy.  A Married Woman by Manju Kapur: I just started reading this earlier today. I really enjoy Manju Kapur's writing and have read quite a few of her books. This one  I am glad to get to. This also adapted into a web-series last year and once I read it, I c...

  Book: Jungle Nama  Author: Amitav Ghosh  Illustrator: Salman Toor  Publisher: Harper Collins  Read On: Hardback Edition  How Long it Took Me To Read: 1 Day  Plot Summary:   Jungle Nama   is Amitav Ghosh's verse adaptation of an episode from the legend of Bon Bibi, a tale popular in the villages of the Sundarban, which also lies at the heart of the novel   The Hungry Tide . It is the story of the avaricious rich merchant Dhona, the poor lad Dukhey, and his mother; it is also the story of Dokkhin Rai, a mighty spirit who appears to humans as a tiger, of Bon Bibi, the benign goddess of the forest, and her warrior brother Shah Jongoli.   The original print version of this legend, dating back to the nineteenth century, is composed in a Bengali verse meter known as dwipodi poyar.  Jungle Nama  is a free adaptation of the legend, told entirely in a poyar-like meter of twenty-four syllable couplets that replicate the caden...

Stationery Sunday: Haul/// Bookmarks from Obvious State.

Hello!  For today's Stationery Sunday I wanted to share the other set of bookmarks I got from Obvious State back in December. This set had my heart from the first time I ever laid eyes on them. I saw them all over IG and I couldn't wait to get me a set of my own! I mean look at them.  Poetry and Florals. This is a match made in aesthetic heaven!  The Bloom Bookmark set retails for $5 and is worth every penny.  I finally got this and few other bits from Obvious State during their Black Friday sale. I have shared my previous batch of bookmarks HERE.   Those ones are mainly for my sister but this set here is my love. I am so happy I finally have these gorgeous bookmarks. Honestly, I am never going to have enough bookmarks. These ones are so well made and study and the art and print on them is perfect. I am so glad to finally have them.  I have some bits from the shop and will share them soon!  Hope you've ...

Travel TBR/// Books I Intend to Read on my Holiday. { October + November TBR }

Hello!  Someday I hope to be the kind of person that only brings their Kindle on their vacation. Or maybe one book or two. Today is not that day.  I am in my parent's hometown for the next month and more and I have come with 9 books to read while I am here. Now, these books are both for my sister and I, so don't judge too harshly.  I, also, of course have my Kindle as well. So I am all covered when it comes to my reading plans for the next month.  Oh and I came here to find 2 books that were gifted to me by my sister-in-law as part of the wedding gift. So two more books to possibly read.  Yay!  Honestly, nothing could be worse than being here and not having access to new books. Though I could get books delivered here from Amazon..but still I like having my own books with me.  So let's jump into my holiday TBR shall we?  A  short classic novella.  A collection of poetry.  Two short story colle...

Book Haul/// Books of September Part- II.

Hello!  These are the second batch of books I've added to my shelves in September.  I got these books from Amazon, as per usual. I love the mix of books here. A classic, a set of love stories from Indian mythology, a book set in Kashmir whose TV show adaptation I vaguely remember, a pulp fiction sort of tale and a collection of poetry. Pretty eclectic if you ask me!  :) Let's just jump in shall we?  Yes please! Pulp fiction is always such good fun to read. I am hoping this one is a fun ride too.  I think..I remember reading about a Little Dorrit read-a-long happening on Instagram in November...or is it ending in November. I am not entirely sure, but it did motivate me to pick up a copy of my own and reading it this winter.  I don't read a lot of love stories. But when I saw these mythological love stories I couldn't resist it. I mean these are bound to be fun and I am big fan of all things history and Indian mythology....

Monday Moods: I am Back + What I've Been Reading! (Mini Book Reviews)

Hello!  Long time no blog post.  I decided to take a little break from blogging this past week. Mainly to just have a bit of a break. My sister was travelling and I spent last week alone at home and I decided to spend it reading a lot, cooking but mostly just chilling out.  And I did just that. I also intended to write a lot but what do you know..no writing whatsoever happened!  I am not beating myself up because last week was a lazy, full of reading wonder. I regret nothing. I did mull over some writing but spent most of my time alone just being happy and reading!  Bliss!  My idea of a summer vacation!  This week it is back to work.  Back to blogging.  & Back to real life.  For now let's see glimpses of my week alone and some of what I read!  This is me all of this last week.  I read 3 books last week.  Two by Gulzar : A novella set a little before, during and long aft...

Monthly Reading Wrap-Up: January 2018.

Hello!  January is gone (nearly) and it has left me with quite a few books read and some pretty diverse reads at that. January was a very good reading month!  I hope the rest of my reading year matches January.  Let's jump into all of my reading that I did in January.  BOOKS READ IN JANUARY 2018!  1. The Mussoorie Murder Edited by Ruskin Bond: My first book read in 2018 and even the first book I bought in 2018. Truth be told, I got this book thinking it will all Ruskin Bond. It wasn't. It is an anthology of classic short stories. I quite enjoyed it.  3/5  2. One by Sarah Crossan: An incredible book. I loved it. Read it in one evening and I can't recommend it enough.  So good!  5/5 3. The Ten Dollar Bride by Sanya Runway: Another collection of short stories dealing with the myriad issues women in India face.  Compelling and moving. 3.5/5  4. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J...
