Book Haul: Books of April 2022.

Hello Loves!  Time for a little book haul.  I got these books a few weeks ago, some books I have wanted to read for a while, I bought these on a day when I was feeling a little blue, so this is essentially a little 'cheer myself up' book haul.  :)  Let's quickly jump into it.  BOOKS BOUGHT:   Ikigai by Hector Garcia Francesc Miralles: Something everyone seems to have read and loved and raved about. I have been meaning to read this for ages and I am so happy I finally got my hands on it. I am hoping to read it this month itself and see what the fuss is all about.  Azadi by Arundhati Roy: I have already read and LOVED this book. It was my last read of April and it was a splendid way to end my month. These essays about India today and the painful level of intolerance and what it means to write fiction in this world..was seriously well-done and thought provoking. I absolutely loved it.  Here, There and Everywhere, Best-Loved Stories of Sudha M...

Weekend Reads: Men Without Women by Haruki Murakami and The Beauty of the Moment by Tanaz Bhathena

Hello, hello! Hope your weekend has gotten off to a good start!  It's the Holi weekend here in India and in a different time, we'd be gearing up to celebrate the festival of colours with sweets and colours!  However, we are doing the best we can and reading some great books!  My sister is reading a collection of short stories by Haruki Murakami called Men Without Women.  Plot Summary:  Across seven tales, Haruki Murakami brings his powers of observation to bear on the lives of men who, in their own ways, find themselves alone. Here are vanishing cats and smoky bars, lonely hearts and mysterious women, baseball and the Beatles, woven together to tell stories that speak to us all. Sounds good, right?  I am reading Tanaz Bhathena's The Beauty of the Moment.  Plot Summary:  Susan is the new girl-she's sharp and driven, and strives to meet her parents' expectations of excellence. Malcolm is the bad boy-he started raising hell at age fifteen, afte...

Friday Favourites: Murakami + NOTD+ Tea + Kolhapuris + Miss Giggles.

Hello!  Hope this Friday is treating you well.  I am a little bummed out this Friday. The passing of Alan Rickman makes me so sad. :( He was such a gifted actor and he was so wonderful as Snape but he was also so much more. This has been a  week of losing legends. David Bowie and now Alan Rickman.  :(  Moving on... My favourites this week are...  1. Murakami. .he celebrated his birthday earlier in the week and this got me thinking of how much wonder he squeezes into his books and how much I adore his writing. A Happy Belated Birthday to my favourite author.  2. My sister's feet in a pair of classic black and gold Kolhapuri sandals.  3. &4. NOTD ...meaning Nails of the Day...or in my case Nails of the Week. Seriously, does anyone really change out their nail paint on a daily basis?!  First is Copper colour which I really liked and was perfect for Fall/Autumn and really just about any ...

2015 Favourites: Top 5 Graphic Novels/ Comics of 2015.

Hello!  I had to really think hard while coming up with this Top 5 list. I didn't read nearly as many comic books/ graphic novels as I would have liked to this year. Not nearly as many as I read last year. But the ones I read I enjoyed and I really want to read more in 2016.  Once again in no particular order let's see the Graphic Novel's and Comic Books I loved best in 2015.  1. The Strange Library by Haruki Murakami: A sweet, strange and whimsy little book that has beautiful art and some very Murakami elements. The full review for this book can be found HERE.   2. Harappa Files by Sarnath Banerjee: An interesting and fun read full of wonderful art. A beautiful book. I immensely enjoyed it. Full review can be found HERE.   3. The Fade Out by Ed Brubaker and Sean Philips: A film noir setting and a bunch of murders. All good things! Old Hollywood, shade characters and a script writer trying to make sense of it all. A ...

To-Be-Read List: October 2015.

Hello!  I back here with a TBR post. Last month I read sans a TBR...after a very strict August, reading only Indian Writing, I wanted a much more relaxed September. So I read what I wanted to and took a TBR out of the mix. But a new month calls for a new Reading List.  October is a mix of things---it's Durga Pujo and then there is Halloween at the very end. So the temptation to read spooky books is at a all time high. I love, love, love scary books and scary movies so this is one of my favourite times of the year.  My TBR is a books I want to read this month...of course but I might completely stray from this set of books and read some Bengali Lit around Durga Pujo and of course at the end of the month I want to read lots of spooky books... I just might do  a separate spooky book TBR later on... For now this is my Reading List for October... 1. Ordeal by Innocence- Agatha Christie 2. Lexicon- Max Barry...

Book Haul/// Books of September 2015.

Hello!  I haven't had a book haul on here in a while now. Not since July... I did buy some books in August...4 I think but I immediately put them away on my shelves and didn't get around to taking pictures of them and sharing them on the blog. I did share two of my new books on Instagram. But not on the blog.  I almost didn't post this haul either since I only have 3 books to share. Yup! Just 3 books!  My book buying is pretty slow right now. It's not intentional...not really.  In August I read all Indian books and I had a whole shelf of books set aside so I didn't need any new books.  In September...I realised it felt good to not buy books for the sheer heck of it.  Don't get me wrong I still love buying books..but there was nothing I really wanted apart from the books I just got.. Another thing is my folks are visiting for a few months and the sight of my bookshelves and stacks of books everywhere in the flat is not som...
