Friday Favourites: TV Series and Movies We've Been Loving Lately

Hey everyone!

Hope your Friday has gotten off to a good start!

In case you are planning to chill out at home this weekend (or even if you're not), we thought we will share some TV and movie recommendations that we've watched and loved lately that you might just want to check out as well!

So, let's get into it!

The Stranger (Netflix)
Based on the eponymous novel by Harlan Coben, The Stranger tells the story of the Price family, whose perfect life falls into pieces when a stranger shares an intimate secret with about Corrine Price with her husband. This stranger is going around sharing secrets and blackmailing different people. What does she want? Who is she in the first place? How does she know all these secrets?
We are mid-way through the series and are really enjoying ourselves.

The Good Doctor (Amazon Prime Video)
The Good Doctor tells the story of Dr. Shaun Murphy- a Savant on the Autism Spectrum- who aspires to become a surgeon. It is the story of him learning to empathise and communicate more effectively with patients in order to get through his surgical residency program.
If you love medical dramas, then this show is a total must-watch! Great cast of characters, interesting cases and a heartwarming story to boot.

9-1-1 Lone Star (on Hotstar)
9-1-1 Lone Star takes the 9-1-1 franchise to the Lone Star State- Texas- Austin, to be very precise. Just like its parent series, 9-1-1 Lone Star is thrilling, has a great, diverse cast of good people and is just a fun ride.
We started watching it on Hotstar and really like it so far.

The Chargesheet- Innocent or Guilty? (on Zee5)
Based on the murder of National badminton champion, Syed Modi, this web series looks into the circumstances leading to his murder and the details of the highly publicised court case thereafter.

It's quite a gripping 8-episode series and something that lovers of true crime should definitely watch.

Kaffir (on Zee5)
Kaffir tells the story of a young girl from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir, who wanders into Indian territory and the efforts of a jaded journalist/ lawyer to help her and her little girl return home.

A really heart-warming little series about people, border, politics and poisonous nationalism. Great performances by the cast, too. Definitely worth watching!

Byomkesh (on Hoichoi)
Irrespective of whether you speak or understand Bengali, if you like old school crime stories, then nothing really beats Byomkesh Bakshi when it comes to crime fiction set in pre-and-immediately post-Independence India. Hoichoi has a 5-season-and-counting series on India's favourite sleuth and it is good!
Plus, it has subtitles, so everyone can understand it. Enjoy!

Water Bottle (on Zee5)
A serial killer is on the prowl. Several children go missing in a small town. A lonely, jaded, close-to-retirement cop is on the case. Will he catch the killer before more kids go missing?

A gritty, thrilling web series in Bengali that you can watch if you enjoy grisly serial killer content (like we do!)!

Hope you find something to love and watch from this list!

Have a great weekend, peeps!
