Blogmas Day IX: Favourite Documentaries of 2021.

 Hello, hello,

Today I want to share some of my favourite non-fiction documentary series of the year. Most of these are true crime documentaries, which, if you know me, are some of my favourite kind to watch!

Let's get into the list, shall we?

House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths has to be, hands down, our favourite documentary of the year! We have done a full review of this amazing shows right here. Go give it a read to see why you must watch this Netflix documentary!

Crime Stories: India Detectives follows various teams of the Bengaluru Police as they solve crimes in real time. Cases include murders, kidnapping and the like and we get to watch how cops go about solving such cases leveraging technology and good old policing. Crime Stories: India Detectives is streaming on Netflix.

Crime Scene: The Vanishing at the Cecil Hotel follows the investigation into the truly bizarre death of Elisa Lam at the iconic and controversial Cecil Hotel in downtown LA. The documentary attempts to peel back the multiple conspiracy theories and try to arrive at a real understanding of how this young woman wound up dead. Watch this interesting documentary on Netflix.

This is a Robbery is a documentary that I was very excited to watch! It attempts to find answers to the daring robbery of priceless art from Boston's Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. If you love art and are interested in heists, then this Netflix show is for you!

Sophie: A Murder in West Cork is another interesting Netflix true crime documentary, which tries to trace the circumstances leading to the murder of Sophie Toscan du Plantier. This documentary will leave you scratching your head and feeling slightly frustrated at the same time.

Allen v. Farrow is one of the better documentaries on the allegations of child abuse made by Dylan Farrow against Woody Allen. The show uses home video footage, speaks to people who were around the Farrow-Allen home when the incident took place as well as to detectives and prosecutors. This show is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.

If you have any documentary recommendations, then let me know here or on Instagram!
