21 Book Recommendations for the Lockdown!

Hello!  How are we doing today?  I hope you are safe and sane and keeping yourself happy inspite of this lockdown and the gloom and doom.  Today I want to do what I do best..Talk about BOOKS!  So without much prelude let's just jump into some book recommendations shall we?  Here are 21 incredible books you could read during this lockdown.  I have books from multiple genres and I think there is a little something for everyone on this list. 1. Feluda Vol. I and II by Satyajit Ray: Brilliant short stories featuring a sleuth who solves crimes with his trusty companions Topshe and Jatayu by his side. These stories are comforting, fun, action filled and full of Ray's genius. Great for kids and honestly great for you too. These two volumes on their own are perfect to keep you occupied for 21 days and then some. Also anything else by Ray is a wonderful idea. His short stories and his sci-fi and ghost stories are some of my favourites....

Reading Tips for Busy Days

The most common question or comment or well compliment I usually get is..How do you read so much?  Normally, I thank the person and say something flippant like, "Oh, reading is my one and only super power." That's not untrue. I do read a lot and do read pretty fast. But I think there is more to my reading like I do than I usually let on or give myself credit for.  I am a fast reader, there is no doubt about that. I have on occasion finished a 450 page book in a day...a couple of hours actually. I also usually finish books in a day or two. In my world, reading a book over a period of 3 days is pretty rare.  Also, and more importantly I ADORE READING.  I LOVE BOOKS.  It's something I choose over all other distractions the world has to offer.  I would rather be reading than doing anything else.  Seriously!  So my reading speed and volume is defined my the way I live my life.  I have in the past done one more p...

Hello June 2018 + 5 Years of Book Blogging! + 10 Tips on How You Can Read More!

Hello!  & Just like that I complete 5 years blogging about books and reading and little bits of my life on here.  5 years ago I decided to start this blog to document my reading life a little better, keep a record of the books I read and the books I love.  Along the way I began to share some non-reading aspects of my life.  In some way, this blog has become a journal of all things me.  Reading and Bookish for most part but also all of the little things that make me happy.  I've always had a blog in some form of another. I've had one since I was 18 years old and talked about my college life and the silly antics I got up to. I honestly can't imagine my life without having a blog. It is a huge part of who I am.  Thank-you for being a part of this 'journey' for coming along for the ride.  For me June has always been about new beginnings, since it meant the start of the new school year.  New backpack.  Ne...

Monday Moods: Kindle Unlimited /// Some Thoughts and Review.

Hello!  I've been meaning to do this post for a while now, pretty much as soon as I signed up for the Kindle Unlimited offer.  I've signed up for 6 months and I paid Rs. 999 for it.  As per the offer I have access to 1 million book in this 6 month period. Books from many genres are available under this scheme.  So basically this is a ebook library of sorts.  In a very, very basic sense.  I read a little about the offer and signed up for it.  We debated between the 1 month and 6 month offer before deciding on 6 months.  So here are some of my thoughts regarding it... 1. I  think it's a pretty decent deal. Now obviously no one can read 1 million books...nor would you want to read all the books they have on offer. But a huge catalogue means you have so much to choose from and I appreciate that.  2. The important thing to note is that you don't get to own the books. when you finish a book you have t...

Reading Tips: 10 Tips to Ace your GoodReads Reading Challenge.

Hello!  Are you on GoodReads ?  If you aren't you must. If you love books and reading and like getting book recommendations and keeping track of all your reading, then it is the perfect spot for you.  I've been on GoodReads since mid-2012 and I've participated in their Reading Challenge every year since.  For those who don't know what it is...you set a goal for yourself in the beginning of the year. It can be any number of your choice. I typically set my goal at 100 books every year. And then GoodReads tracks your progress and tells you how you are doing, if you are ahead of your goal of lagging behind.  I read 104 books in 2012.  I read 186 books in 2013.  And  295 books in 2014 (calm down, loads of comic books included!)  So I figured I could help out those of you who might be struggling to meet your set goals.  These are just some tips I thought might help you get to your challenge goal... ...

Monday Moods: 10 Reasons Why You Need A Kindle.

I love books...well if I have to state an obvious fact. And my love for physical books- paper and ink books is a love that will never end. When Kindle was first launched I was adamantly against them, not for me, I thought. I am more than happy with my paper and ink books. I don't need a device to read! Thank-you very much. And then nearly two years ago my sister bought me a Kindle for Diwali and my thoughts and opinions have changed...a whole lot. I still love my vast number of physical books but I do adore my Kindle and I love it's convenience. Here are 10 Reasons Why You Need a Kindle... 1. The sheer joy of having so many books in one device. A Kindle can have upto 1400 books. Mine has 349 odd books and it sure is nice to have so many books on hand. 2. The battery life of a Kindle is simply the best. I can go four books without needing to charge my device. 3. The size is perfect, fits in my bag and doesn't take up a whole lot of space. It fits in the sm...

A Little Tip to Help You Read More/// Make Most of Your TBR.

As you know I've been making a monthly TBR for over two years now. At the beginning of every new month, I draw up a list of all the books I hope to/ intend to read that given month. This helps me in a number of ways... It makes me think about what I want to read. It makes me pick books that have been on my bookshelf for a while. It give a system/ method to my reading life.  It makes picking my next read so much simpler.  It gives me a chance to pick books that either go well together (if I am reading a particular theme) or it helps in mixing things up a bit...if I want to read different books this helps me to do that.  Now I have loved making a TBR list. It doesn't limit me or restrict me in any way. It might seem like it at first, just having set few books on your monthly reading list. But it isn't, I promise. Plus, I like to be flexible. If for some reason I am not 'feeling' a certain book at a certain time, it's OK to skip it. Put it away and mov...
