Wednesday Whoozies.

Hello Loves!  Happy Hump day 🎀 Here's what I did today~  Finished a great book. Witchcraft for Wayward Girls by Grady Hendrix was such a wonderful and scary and moving book. Set in America in 1970, in a house for unwed mothers. We meet a host of teenage girls about to have babies out of wedlock. It's infuriating and important and has some witchy moments. I loved it.  Caught up with an old friend.  Ate delicious tuna sandwiches.  Ordered a few things 😁 my birthday month is coming up and I believe in treating myself.  Spoke to my Mom.  Chilled.  A good day.  Sweet treats.  Journal pages this week.  Three amazing books I read earlier in the month.  Two kid's books.  And one a handbook for memory keeping.

Blogmas Day-24! Top Children's Books of 2024.

Hello Loves!  I am a big fan of all things Kid Lit. I believe that a good book that's written for kids works just as well for adults. A book that teaches a child via a story will have a similar effect on an adult or at least bring them some much needed comfort.  I read a lot of Children's Books, when I have a hard day or week, I find myself turning to the softness of a well written Children's Book. Here are my absolute favourites from 2024.  First we have two books by the same author, whose work I discovered this year and absolutely fell in love with.  1. Small Saul  &  2. Larf by Ashely Spires: These books are so wholesome and wonderful and warm and fuzzy and so so so cute. Larf is about a Big Foot looking for a friend and Small Saul is a little pirate. My heart! I love these books and made my sister read them right after I finished them. So so so good. The art is lovely too. Highly recommend.  3. Mukesh Opens a Zoo by Ruskin Bond: What li...

When I'm Sad I Read Kid Lit. 🌷

I've had the worst week. I have these super noisy upstairs neighbours and I've been so stressed and upset because they just won't stop banging and  clanging.  So my mood has been in the gutter.  And nothing I was reading was sticking or making me happy.  So I turned to some beautiful Picture Books to soothe myself and it worked like a charm.  Here are some beautiful books I've read lately 🌞 Five incredible and beautiful books that took my mind off my problems and made me so happy.  Now some beautiful pages from said books:  Heart warming stories and gorgeous art does wonders for my weary heart and mind.

This Weekend Looked Like...

A bout of good books.  Good food. Aam Ras is the best 🥭  Amazing films.  Rest.  Some crying.  A whole lot of heat.  Overall a good-ish weekend.

Friday Favourites: Bookmarks from Page Break.

Hello Loves!  How is your Friday going?!  All good I hope.  For this week's Friday Faves I want to share a little bookmark haul, I got these beauties in the mail some point in December and let me tell you I bought these bookmarks even before I bought or read the book that inspired these bookmarks! Once they arrived I figured I had to buy the book and thank God I did because I loved the book so much. The book is obviously The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse by Charlie Mackesy, which I read as my first read of 2022 and loved so much.  Now let's look at the bookmarks made by Page Break.  I love how these bookmarks turned out and how they've captured the vibe of the books and it's message so wonderfully. This was my second time getting bookmarks from Page Break and I am so impressed with her artistry and the beautiful things she creates.  Do go check her out and get yourself something absolutely love from her shop.  :) Have a lovely weekend love...

Book Review: The Parrot and The Merchant by Rumi, Ali Seidabadi, Illustrated by Marjan Vafaeian.

Book: The Parrot and The Merchant Author: Rumi Written: Ali Seidabadi Illustrated By: Marjan Vafaeian Pages: 24 Publisher: Puffin Books How Long it Took Me To Read: 20 minutes Plot Summary:   Mah Jahan, a rich merchant woman, collects birds in cages. But when she brings back a gift for one of them, she learns a surprising lesson.  This exquisitely illustrated story is an enchanting fable exploring how hard it is to let go of someone you love and give them freedom. Retold for modern-day readers, this classic tale by Rumi is brought to life by the award-winning illustrator Marjan Vafaian. Review: This was such a charming read, based on Rumi's original tale of love and freedom. It tells us the value of freedom in a very simple way. I loved this story, Rumi really knew how to convey a deep message in the simplest but stirring way. The art was really special, gorgeous and really unique. Look at some of the gorgeous pages below. This story ...

Book Review: The Ammuchi Puchi by Sharanya Manivannan and Nerina Canzi

Book: The Ammuchi Puchi Author: Sharanya Manivannan Illustrator: Nerina Canzi Pages: 32 Publisher: Puffin Read On: Paperback How Long it Took Me To Read: Half an Hour Plot Summary:   Aditya and Anjali love listening to their grandmother's stories, particularly the scary one about the ghost in the tree. But the night their grandmother passes away, all her stories seem to lose their meaning. Then something happens that is more mysterious and magical than any story. Could their grandmother still be with them after all? Stunningly illustrated and told in gorgeous, poetic prose, this is a poignant and moving story about bereavement and healing. Review: I am partial to books about Grandmothers. So any book, in any genre about a Grandmother invariably gets added to my bookshelves. This one was on my radar for precisely this reason and the art looked stunning. Grandmothers are the best! I loved my Thamma something special and still feel lovely when people say...
