April 2024 Snapshots.

April is over and here is what this month looked like:  Planners.  Reading a fair number of Bengali books for All Bengali Books in April.  Reading a lot of thrillers.  Watching some amazing films: Laapaata Ladies and Late Night with the Devil were my favourites.  Ate some good food.  Slept my blues away.  Let’s see some moments from April. Golden Hour in Summer is just magical.  I love how the light hits my bedroom wall.  Shadow and light.  Cozy Reading 📚📖📚 April Planner Pages.  April wasn’t the best. In fact, it low-key sucked and I am so happy to see it leave.  There was a lot of stress, anxious spirals and general summer blues. The insane heatwave didn’t help matters.  But in all this sadness there were some good books, Nobo Borsho joys, journaling, some happy mail, cold drinks and amazing films to make me happy.

When I'm Sad I Read Kid Lit. 🌷

I've had the worst week. I have these super noisy upstairs neighbours and I've been so stressed and upset because they just won't stop banging and  clanging.  So my mood has been in the gutter.  And nothing I was reading was sticking or making me happy.  So I turned to some beautiful Picture Books to soothe myself and it worked like a charm.  Here are some beautiful books I've read lately 🌞 Five incredible and beautiful books that took my mind off my problems and made me so happy.  Now some beautiful pages from said books:  Heart warming stories and gorgeous art does wonders for my weary heart and mind.

This Weekend Looked Like...

A bout of good books.  Good food. Aam Ras is the best 🥭  Amazing films.  Rest.  Some crying.  A whole lot of heat.  Overall a good-ish weekend.

Review: 5 Reasons to Watch Laapataa Ladies on Netflix

Hello, hello, We just finished watching Laapataa Ladies on Netflix and we loved it so, so much that we simply had to get on here and recommend it to all of you!  So, without further ado, let's get into our top 5 reasons for watching this absolutely smashing movie: 1. The writing! OMG, the writing! It is funny, insightful, wise and so pitch perfect! I haven't watched an Indian movie in the past 5-6 years where the writing made me actually clap more than once! So, so good!  2. The story. A simple story of two brides getting lost because of being inside navel-length ghunghats. Phool, married to Deepak, sleeps on the train and, Deepak mistakenly takes Pushpa/ Jaya to get off with him at his station because both women are dressed in similar bridal sarees with a huge ghunghat. Chaos ensues! The story is about how both the women find their way back home and to themselves.  3. The found family in this movie so absolutely adorable! The people that Phool (Deepak's wife) find...

Bookish Moments from this Week.

This week we celebrated World Book Day.  TBH, isn't every day World Book Day in a bookworms life?  In my corner of the world, every day is spent being grateful for the wonder and gift that are books. ❤  An epitaph from a book I read earlier this week.  Books always make me so happy.  Bookshops 🩷  These shelves from Crosswords at Kemps Corner.  Some new books I've added to my shelves this week.  Two scary books I've read recently and really enjoyed.  Moved my books around and reorganized them. This stack is mostly new books I hope to read this year.  Books and Sunflowers🌻

Hot Days 🥵

It's getting hot and humid and horrid.  And  I am trying to hide from the world and sun and keep cool.  The sunsets have been good though.  And books are keeping me happy.  As are films and shows.  Currently rewatching Monk and loving it.  Hope you are staying cool and finding joy.
