Blogmas Day- 18: Cozy Reads: The Bridgerton Series by Julia Quinn

So, today, we have for you an amazing Romance/ Cozy Read recommendation. The best bit? It is not just one book but a whole series of NINE books! Yup, you heard that right! NINE amazing romance, happily-ever-after, Regency love stories! Well, eight love stories and one special book, which tells us what happened to the characters in these eight books once the book ended. Is that not amazingly thoughtful of Julia Quinn? I think it is!

So, let me give you a quick overview about the Bridgerton series by Julia Quinn.

Set in Regency England (the early 1800s), the Bridgerton series follows the lives of the eight Bridgerton siblings- Anthony, Benedict, Colin, Daphne, Eloise, Francesca, Gregory and Hyacinth. The Bridgertons are an elite family led by Anthony, a Viscount, and are very popular amongst the ton- the set of England's most elite, royal/ royal-adjacent families such as Dukes, Earls, Viscounts, Barons etc.

These books follow the love stories of each of these siblings, their adventures on the Marriage Mart (not at all very different from the arranged marriage madness in India), where families marry for advantage rather than compatibility or, God forbid, love. Since their parents have had a marriage based on love and mutual respect, all Bridgerton siblings aspire to make love matches instead of entering into a soul-less marriages.

To add chaos to all of this, a mysterious person calling themselves Lady Whistledown publishes a widely-read witty and bitchy gossip pamphlet documenting and commenting upon the follies and foibles of the ton and Lady W seems, especially, interested in the good looking and interesting Bridgerton siblings and tracks their love lives with amazing regularity!

So, if you love romance stories that are a touch steamy and still have nicely written characters with a lot of heart, then this series is a must read. Especially, now because Netflix is about to stream an adaptation of this series created by Shonda Rhimes! The series- called Bridgerton- streams from December 25th! So, you may as well start with The Duke & I (the first book in the series) as soon as possible! Trust me, you'll enjoy it!

It looks quite fun!

Go read these books! You can thank me later!

Enjoy! :)
