5 Reasons to Binge The White Lotus Season 2 {Blogmas Day- 12}

Today was the second season finale of The White Lotus and if you haven't watched it yet, then, now is the perfect time to do so!

The White Lotus is an anthology series based on the follies and foibles of the rich as they spend a few days soaking up the luxurious life in a 5-star Resort, usually, somewhere very, very beautiful!

Season 1 was based in Hawaii and Season 2 has one-upped that by basing the show in Sicily! So, let's get into the quick reasons as to why this season is such a must-watch!

1. Since we were already talking about it- Season 2 is a visual treat! The beautiful town of Taormina in Sicily and the places around it are so stunning that you are torn between paying attention to the drama unfolding on the screen vs the gorgeous surroundings! Oooh la la! Some of the palazzos and hotels and markets shown are just drop dead stunning! What a treat for the travel hungry, who are waiting to start travelling!

2. Unlike Season 1, where there were a few problematic things (for me, not sure if everyone felt that way), Season 2 is just a social satire on the very rich and how they live in their little bubbles of privilege and their twisted worldview. So, we have two married couples- one newly rich (still clinging on to the last vestiges of their middle-class values) and the other wealthy, dysfunctional and slightly hypocritical- making a show of how good their marriage is and how they never fight etc. So, obviously, everyone knows what that marriage is really like!

Then, we have a trio of men- grandfather, father and son- all horny and all messed up in their own way! Their journey and what happens on them on this show is my favourite!

Then, as we did in Season 1, we have the hotel staff with their own drama unfolding, which is always the most fun part of the show.

There are some other great characters, but you have to watch the show to see and laugh at them yourself!

3. The comedy on this show is so spot on! It is a satire, so, obviously, it is not haa-haa funny but it is still uproariously funny and Jennifer Coolidge is just absolutely hilarious!

4. The show draws a contrast between the haves and the have-nots and it is very interesting to see how a ton of money doesn't equate to a blissful, problem-free life or the lack of money doesn't equal to being virtuous or better as human beings. We have an interesting study of human nature in all its stripped-down glory and that's one of the things that I love most about this show.

5. The journeys of these characters through the seven-episode arc are just so nicely done and fun and tragicomic! You'll end up laughing, being slightly anxious, cheering or even rolling your eyes by the end of the season. The performances are fantastic and the very talented ensemble cast is simply terrific! And since the second season ended today, you can easily binge all seven episodes right now!

The White Lotus is streaming on Disney+ Hotstar!
