All the Thrillers & Horror Books I've Read this Month.
Hello Loves!
In the honour of Halloween and all things spooky, I've read a few thrillers,
Not as many as I would have liked to but I read some good ones...here is my little list.
Haunt Sweet Home is my most recent read. A home improvement haunted house reality TV show which is mostly fake till some real creepy things start happening. Fun and short and an interesting look at reality TV.
CJ Tudor is an author whose work I enjoy very much. I went into this with very high expectations.
A father and daughter inherit a dream house in an ideal township in the US, picture a Disney like vibe, if Disney made ideal townships that had a million rules. So our Brits move to this town and things are a little off. Fun enough but eventually incredibly obvious and all the reveals and twists were so easy to guess.
My first ever M.L. Rio, this little novella is about a single night and a whole lot of strangeness.
There are creepy and gore-y things and honestly I don't think this kind of horror is for me.
A couple wins a apartment lottery and end up living in a very fancy, high-end, historic Apartment Building in New York. A turn of luck that seems too good to be true....hmmm..and it just might be. The couple in question has had a year from hell, the wife is paralyzed after an injury during labor (childbirth is scary you guys) and post-partum hasn't been easy for her or her husband. Add to this a mysterious building and it's neighbours!
This one was so well-written and atmospheric and good fun and I love books set in New York.
A Good time.
Picked this up on a night I needed a cozy read. This comprises of a couple of mysteries that a wise grandfather and granddaughter discuss and brainstorm and solve. A sweet book with pretty mild and not so mild cases. I enjoyed it and if you're looking for a thriller with some gentle vibes, My Grandfather The Master Detective is for you.
I read and loved Hidden Pictures by the same author a couple of months ago and absolutely loved it. So this I was so excited for...and it started off great. A young woman loses her cat during a snowstorm and is heartbroken. Soon she ends up cat sitting a rather strange cat and weird things begin to happen and things are more complex than she ever imagined. The book also has comic strips and art illustrations which added so much to this story. I did enjoy this in parts but by the end I was a little underwhelmed.
This is my current read and a short 92 page letter from an ex-house owner to the house's current occupant about the resident entity. I am about 50% in and quite enjoying it.
This is the first thriller I read in the beginning of the month. Four young folks decide to spend the weekend at a fancy country home, where one of them works, they are not supposed to be there. Things are going well, till the owners show up with their own friends and things take a turn for...the worst!
This was entertaining to start with but it got a little boring by the end.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of my current read and then I might pick up something else for tomorrow aka Halloween. But my main focus will be on watching scary films.
:)
