Recent TV/OTT Favourites: Series and Movies

 Hello all,

Since it is the weekend, I thought I would share some of the recent TV and OTT/ web series that we've watched and enjoyed.

1. Unforgotten Series 4

Unforgotten is an ITV crime/ murder mystery series, which is entirely focused on cold cases. We've talked about this show earlier on the blog and how much we love it! The show returned for its fourth season in February and this season started off with a headless and hand-less frozen body being discovered in a junkyard inside a freezer. The team of DCI Stuart and DI Khan start following all available leads to find the identity of the victim and also find his killer.

2. Oprah's Conversation with Meghan and Harry

Oprah's Conversation with Meghan and Harry was the most talked about event of this past week. Oprah sat down with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex to understand why they left their roles as 'senior royals'. A lot of the conversation was really petty, KG-level who-made-who-cry but there were some explosive racist allegations made by Meghan on an un-named member of the family, who speculated about the colour of their son's skin. None of the racist stuff is surprising, to be honest, but it still is so awful to listen to!

3. Utsob Er Pore

Utsob Er Pore is a Bengali OTT/ web series on Adda Times (you need a subscription), which delves into family secrets and family dynamics of a joint family in Kolkata. The show is set during the festival of Durga Puja, when all the sons of the family gather together in the family home and past secrets and present dynamics complicate what should be a fun time for the family.

4. Drishyam 2

Drishyam 2, the sequel to the superhit, adapted-in-five-languages Malayalam movie, tells the story of what happens to Georgekutty and family in the aftermath of the events of the first movie. This movie is a masterclass in how to write a sequel! Each scene of this movie has a bearing on the story, even if it seems innocuous and random! This movie is an absolute must-watch! Drishyam 2 is streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Drishyam is available on Hotstar (in Malayalam and Hindi- also in 2 other languages). Do watch both these movies in Malayalam because Mohanlal is a much, much superior actor when compared to Ajay Devgn!
